EU to launch biometric Entry/Exit System for short-stay travelers in October
Published

The European Union is set to launch its biometric Entry/Exit System (EES) for short-stay travelers in October. This automated IT system will register travelers from third countries, both visa-exempt and visa-required, each time they cross an EU external border. The system will record the traveler's name, type of travel document, biometric data (fingerprints and captured facial images), and the date and place of entry and exit, replacing the manual stamping of passports.
