Romanian Border Police Report Daily Border Crossing Statistics for March 23

The Romanian Border Police processed approximately 51,400 people and over 11,300 vehicles at the country's external borders on March 23, 2026, according to official statistics released by the agency.www.politiadefrontiera.ro The border crossings included formalities at the borders with Serbia, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine, as well as sea and air arrivals from outside the Schengen area. On the entry side alone, border guards completed formalities for 26,777 persons and 7,000 means of transport.
Ukrainian citizens continue to represent a significant portion of border traffic following Russia's invasion. Since February 10, 2022, a total of 14,163,588 Ukrainian citizens have entered Romania, with 588 Ukrainian citizens crossing the border on March 23 alone. To manage this volume, Romanian border police employed mobile terminals connected to databases across the Schengen Area, conducting over 14,000 checks in the eDAC application during the 24-hour period.
Border security remained a priority, with authorities denying entry to 21 foreign citizens who failed to meet legal requirements and preventing 43 Romanian citizens from leaving for various legal reasons. The Romanian Border Police emphasized their commitment to facilitating legitimate border crossings while maintaining firm enforcement measures to detect and sanction those who violate regulations.
